The Yerevan State Chamber Theatre, founded on December 15, 1981, is one of Armenia’s leading contemporary theatres. The founder and Artistic Director of the Theatre is Ara Yernjakyan, Doctor of Arts and Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia.
The Theatre operates through a distinctive creative methodology known as the Identification System, which is based on a complete and natural interaction between stage and audience. Within this approach, the spectator transforms from a passive observer into an active participant, dissolving the traditional “fourth wall” and creating a shared theatrical experience.
Throughout its history, the Theatre has staged around one hundred productions spanning contemporary drama, comedy, classical tragedy, and musical performances, many of which have enjoyed lasting success with audiences. Over the years, numerous prominent actors, directors, and musicians have begun their artistic careers at the Theatre.
The Theatre is a participant and laureate of numerous prestigious international festivals across Armenia, Russia, Sweden, France, Germany, and beyond. Among its notable participations and recognitions:
• • ArtFest Festival, Armenia
• • HighFest International Performing Arts Festival, Armenia
• • Yerevan International Shakespeare Theatre Festival
• • Gdańsk Shakespeare International Theatre Festival, Poland
• • The 10th Itaka Shakespeare Festival, Serbia
