The lives of women and girls living in Georgia are still filled with unspoken pain. The traces of violence imprint themselves in everyday life. Theater becomes a space where silence is shaped into words, and the body begins to speak.
The performance “Haide”, staged at the Marneuli Cultural Center, is a theatrical work based on documentary and artistic narratives. It brings to the stage the vast experiences of women—their fight for truth, dignity, and their rightful place in the world.
The play reflects various forms of violence, systemic silence, and the invisible walls women confront daily. Yet this is not merely a portrayal of pain — it is a cry, one that rises from the nature of womanhood like a storm. It is an act of resistance that speaks equally to the mind and the heart.
Haide offers the viewer an encounter — with oneself, with society, and with its silent spaces. This story does not distance us from reality; on the contrary, it places us at its very center.
The creative team strives to open a dialogue on women’s rights, to dismantle socio-cultural stigmas, and to amplify the voices of those who have yet to speak.
The goal of the performance is not to provide answers. Rather, it seeks to open a space — where speaking about women’s rights is not only a social necessity but a rethinking of what it means to be human.
Haide invites the audience to cross the boundaries of stigma, to move beyond imposed frames, and to encounter voices that, after long silences, are beginning to speak.
At this stage, there is no functioning professional or municipal theater in the Marneuli Municipality. However, the Marneuli Cultural Center is purposefully and systematically working towards the development of theatrical art. Various theatrical projects are being implemented. The theatrical activities of the Cultural Center are distinctly social in nature; the performances deliberately address current social and public issues both in the country and within the municipality, such as: access to education, issues of equality, violence multiethnic and ethnocultural coexistence, and challenges faced by youth.
