In 1995, he graduated from the Shota Rustaveli State Theatre and Film University, Faculty of Directing (class of Mikheil Tumanishvili). He continued his studies with Luca Ronconi in Milan, Peter Brook at the Royal National Theatre Studio in London, at the Tisch School of the Arts in New York, and at Yale University.

Lysistrata – winner of several categories at the prestigious "Duruji" Theatre Awards, including "Best Directing"
In 2004, he was appointed General Director of the Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theatre. His opera productions include: Cavalleria Rusticana, Aida, La Traviata, Rigoletto, Tosca, Mithridates, King of Pontus, and Attila.
In 2017, he founded the Tsinandali Festival, which quickly rose to international prominence as one of the leading classical music events worldwide.
He currently serves as the Artistic Director of the Sokhumi State Drama Theatre and, as of April 4, 2025, also holds the position of its General Director. Since May 2024, he has been the Chief Director of the Rustaveli National Theatre.
He is the founder of the Caucasian Theatre/Lab and serves as President of the Georgian Centre of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) under UNESCO.
A Georgian theatre and opera director, arts manager, and composer, he is also a member of the European Cultural Parliament (ECP).
