The Strange Tale of Little Zaches centers on a man who is ugly and foolish but, through magic, attains great success and usurps the work of others. The source of his power lies in three red strands of hair—only by burning these can Minister Cinnabar be defeated and peace restored to the land.
In 1963, the Poti State Theater was named after Valerian Gunia. In 1982 the theater celebrated its centennial anniversary.
The Poti Theater actively supports the education of students studying theater by financing their studies at the theater faculty. This initiative helps us nurture new talent and manage the generation gap within our troupe.
As part of our annual program, with the support of our partners and sponsors, we stage a special production featuring performers with disabilities. This inclusive play is presented at various festivals, promoting diversity and accessibility in the arts.
The work of the Poti Theater consistently receives positive reviews from critics, who recognize it as one of the most interesting theaters in the Georgian theatrical landscape. Over the years, the theater has earned numerous awards both in Georgia and internationally.
