About Performance
In Shakespeare’s immortal comedy, lovers, rulers, and actors cross the borders between worlds — as if only a dream, or theatre itself, could make it possible. They lose themselves in a dense forest, like in the chaos of real life, where truth and falsehood, love and illusion, dream and reality intertwine into a modern nightmare. Where is truth spoken? Where is real love performed? And what we witness here — is it dream, or reality?
New Georgian Theatre is an independent theatre company founded by director David Doiashvili in 2025. It was established as an open platform and creative umbrella for independent artists working in Georgia amid professional and political pressure. The company aims to empower socially engaged artists, support their artistic freedom and legitimate resistance, enable them to continue practising their profession, and create opportunities for new collaborations. *A Midsummer Night’s Dream* is the platform’s first theatrical project.
