9 ACTS is a multidisciplinary performance blending dance, text, and live clay installation to explore the transformative potential of form—without altering its essence—pushing this transformation toward radical systemic reshaping.
At its core, the performance unfolds as a structured cycle of actions with clay in various states: wet, dry, flattened, folded, imprinted, dissolved, decomposed, and fragmented. This process places the material in an unnatural, ever-shifting condition, probing the tension between form and formlessness, stability and collapse.
Clay, an ancient and symbolically rich material, has shaped civilizations, embodying creation and destruction alike. This performance investigates its contemporary resonance: how does this malleable substance reflect a world marked by political turmoil, war, systemic decay, and an urgent need for transformation?
A collaborative ensemble—including a director, writer, choreographer, visual artist, composer, and three performers—creates a continuously evolving, playful loop of movements and sound. Improvised music and an unfolding sonic landscape accompany a series of seemingly aimless yet precise actions.
9 ACTS rejects the reproduction of rigid, masculine structures of power, embracing instead fluidity, dissolution, and the subversion of form.
The performance was created for the 2025 performance art festival THE BLUE OF HIGH ZENITHS at HayArt Cultural Center in Yerevan.
untitled tbilisi is an art and community organization uniting artists and art activists from the South Caucasus to support the rights of women, queer individuals, and other marginalized groups through regional and international art projects.
Founded in early 2019 in Tbilisi, the organization aims to foster social impact by amplifying the collective voices of the South Caucasus. untitled tbilisi produces and curates festivals, exhibitions, performances, film screenings, artist talks, roundtables, and networking events, alongside a wide range of educational and cultural activities that promote human rights, raise awareness, and support endangered communities throughout the region.
In 2024, untitled tbilisi launched THE BLUE OF HIGH ZENITHS—a performance art gathering that brought together artists from the Caucasus and neighboring countries to explore the idea of a queer future in the region and investigate strategies for transnational, decolonial community-building. The highly successful second edition of the festival took place in Yerevan, Armenia, in May 2025.
Also in 2024, untitled tbilisi co-founded the IN THE MOUNTAINS platform. In its first year, the platform hosted a three-month hybrid residency for eight queer and feminist artists from the South Caucasus, organized a large-scale festival in Berlin, and convened an Urgent Action Conference in Tbilisi.
